Minneapolis, MN, USA - Well-wishers lined the hotel lobby, eager to catch a glimpse of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, or even shake his hand, as he left this morning. Anaheim Mayor Tom Tait was at the hotel door to see him off. The smooth flight that took His Holiness over Grand Canyon landed three hours later at Minneapolis-St Paul airport, from where it was a short drive to where he is staying.
About 400 Tibetans, including Tashi Shölpa and Gyal Shay dancers, had gathered outside the hotel to welcome His Holiness. He happily reciprocated their greetings walking along their serried lines, stopping to exchange a few words with old friends, to ask children their ages and to shake hands with many others. Philanthropist Bill Austin and his wife, his local hosts, met him on the hotel threshold and extended their greetings. During his stay in Minneapolis, His Holiness will visit the Starkey Hearing Technologies Campus and address staff.
