Thekchen Chöling, Dharamsala, HP, India - At the weekend His Holiness the Dalai Lama wrote to both Shri Nitish Kumar, Chief Minister of Bihar, and Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Chief Minister of Assam. He expressed sadness at the loss of life and devastation of property due to monsoon flooding in their respective states.
He wrote that he appreciated that all is being done to rescue those affected, and that relief efforts are underway. He added that as a mark of his sympathy for the people of Bihar and Assam he was making donations from the Gaden Phodrang Trust of the Dalai Lama towards the relief and rescue efforts.
He offered his condolences to those families that have lost loved ones as well as his sympathy for everyone affected by the flooding.
