Taormina, Sicily, Italy - This morning His Holiness the Dalai Lama was seen off from his hotel in Kronberg, by many Tibetan, German and other friends. He drove to Frankfurt airport from where he flew to Catania, Sicily. He was welcomed on arrival by the Mayor of Catania, Enzo Bianco, the Mayor of Messina, Renato Accorinti and the Chief Cabinet Secretary of Messina, Mrs Loredana Carrara. Mr Accorinti offered His Holiness a scarf in the colours of the Italian tricolour. Mr & Mrs Accorinti and Mrs Carrara accompanied His Holiness to his hotel where they ate lunch together looking out over the sun drenched Mediterranean Sea.
Tomorrow morning, His Holiness is to speak on the theme ‘Peace is the Meeting of Peoples’ at historic Greek Theatre (the teatro greco) Taormina.
