Dharamsala, HP, India, 2 October 2011 - Noting that Mahatma Gandhi's
birth anniversary today is designated International Non-Violence Day,
His Holiness the Dalai Lama commented that non-violence continues to be
important in our day to day lives as well as in international relations.
Remarking that many thousands of people all over the world would be
celebrating non-violence today he called on listeners to his teachings
at the Main Tibetan Temple in Dharamsala, India, to join him in
observing a minute's silence and suggested that they ponder the
following prayer:
May all beings who have been our parents enjoy happiness,
May all the lower realms where beings suffer come to a permanent end,
And may the prayers of the Bodhisattvas residing in all directions be fulfilled.
