At the preliminary initiation yesterday, His Holiness the Dalai Lama stressed on the importance of preserving the valuable teachings of the Lord Buddha and other great Buddhist scholars. He urged people not to use religion for achieving their own needs and suggested that people hold some conferences to discuss measures for such problems and to strengthen and intensify teachings of the great masters.
In the afternoon, His Holiness the Dalai Lama met some district heads and their families, followed by an audience to around 2500 Tibetans from Tibet. His Holiness again gave them a strong message about the importance of both modern and traditional education and internal development to become a good Buddhist follower and good human being as a whole.
There are about 8,000 to 9,000 Tibetans from Tibet attending the Kalachakra teachings and His Holiness said that he will meet with the rest, today and tomorrow.
The Kalachakra teachings were translated into English, Hindi, Chinese, Spanish and Dutch and also into the Amdo and Kham dialects of Tibet.
