Dharamsala, HP, India, 22 November 2009 (www.phayul.com) - His Holiness the Dalai Lama yesterday attended the last day of the 'International Conference: Exploring Tibet's History and Culture" at the Academic Council Hall of the Delhi University's Vice Regal Lodge.

The Tibetan leader was invited to deliver the valedictory address at the conference on Tibetan history and culture at the Delhi University on Saturday.

The conference is jointly organised the University of Delhi and Central University for Tibetan Studies, Varanasi.

The audience comprising of students and staff of the university occasionally had light moments in between the lecture of the Tibetan leader who is well known for his sense of humour. His Holiness the Dalai Lama who is also an honorary professor at Delhi University said that he was a "lazy" person and "useless" as a professor.

"Delhi University may call me its honorary professor but the reality is that I am a useless professor. And there are two reasons for that," His Holiness said.

"Firstly, I have no time to do my duties as a professor and secondly, I am very lazy, so I don't do any homework. So here you have, a useless professor with a big name."

His Holiness is currently attending the last day of the "Hind Swaraj Centenary Commemoration" at Surajkund near Delhi. The conference that began on November 19 aims to 'discuss challenges for Nonviolence based on day-to-today lives of people in the conflict zones and how they face them practicing Gandhian values'. The Tibetan leader will spend the entire day today at the conference.
